Car accidents can sometimes be more severe than normal, but the unfortunate fact is that the majority of these accidents are caused by negligent driving. These types of accidents can seriously injure or even kill those involved, but could be easily prevented if a driver paid attention to their surroundings while operating a motor vehicle. One car accident in Nebraska recently killed one and injured several others.

The accident took place on Sept. 12 at around 7 p.m. and involved two motor vehicles. Investigations indicated that the first driver failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. Emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the accident and pronounced one of the victims deceased.

Four other individuals, including the first driver, were taken to the hospital for their injuries. The current condition of the victims is unknown at this time. The accident is still being investigated by Nebraska authorities, but the first driver was cited on suspicion of drunk driving after the accident.

Police stated that other charges may be pending against the driver for his involvement in the car accident. However, even if the charges do not stick, the injured victims may have the right to monetary compensation. Compensation from a properly litigated claim could be used by these victims to supplement their income if they are unable to work as well as pay any unexpected bills from their injuries. This could allow the injured individuals to focus on recovering and returning to their normal routines instead of worrying about new bills.  In addition, the family of the deceased victim may file a wrongful death claim, and any monetary award received from a successful claim could help the family recover from the expenses that typically arise from an unexpected death.
