Motor vehicle accidents happen across the country on a daily basis. In many cases, an accident could have been avoided if the motorists involved had simply acted with caution in navigating the roadways. Unfortunately, many car crashes have catastrophic results. A recent car accident caused the death of a young Nebraska motorist.
The two-vehicle accident occurred on Nebraska Highway 92 around 9 p.m. on a recent Sunday. The local sheriff’s office reported that both motorists were wearing their seat belts when the accident occurred. Both drivers were injured. After being transferred to local hospitals, one driver was pronounced dead and the other treated at one facility before reportedly being transferred to another hospital.
The collision appeared to be the result of the surviving driver crossing from his eastbound lane over the middle lane and into the path of the westbound vehicle. The crash was reportedly close to being a head-on collision. The accident investigation is reportedly ongoing.
Nebraska drivers have the right to travel the roadways without being subjected to the negligent actions of other motorists, and one important rule of the road is that drivers remain in their designated lanes. The victim’s family in this tragic car accident has suffered the unimaginable loss of their loved one. In the event of a fatal accident like this one, surviving family members may pursue a wrongful death claim against the party or parties deemed to be at fault. Should the claim be proven, the family may be able to offset the financial burdens that are typically associated with these tragedies.
