Those who drive large commercial trucking vehicles need to be extra careful while on the road. These types of vehicles can be more dangerous than a regular passenger car due to a truck’s size and lack of maneuverability. Failure of the part of truck drivers in Nebraska to be cautious can result in serious injuries and even death. Unfortunately, this was the result of a recent truck accident in Thayer County.
The incident happened near Hebron when a farm truck crashed into a semi-truck. The farm truck was driven by a 62-year-old man while the semi-truck was operated by a 36-year-old man. Apparently, the farm truck was crossing the freeway when the semi-truck crashed into the side of it. The incident occurred at approximately 6 p.m., according to reports.
Both drivers were transported to a local hospital. An emergency helicopter then transported the driver of the farm truck to another medical facility. However, the medical staff was unsuccessful in treating his injuries, and he was later pronounced dead. Reports indicate that there were no other passengers in the two vehicles at the time of the tragedy.
As of yet, the authorities in Nebraska have not determined who may have been at fault concerning the recent truck accident. However, if the injured semi-truck driver believes the farm truck driver was at fault, then he may be able to sue the decedent’s estate in order to seek monetary reimbursement for injuries suffered. On the other hand, the estate of the decedent may decide to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the semi-truck driver as well. The employer of the driver sued may be named as an additional defendant based upon the legal doctrine of vicarious liability. To prevail in either claim, it will be necessary to prove in a civil court that the accident was caused by the negligence of the other driver.
