2 people injured in recent truck accident

A truck accident sent two people to the hospital early this morning. The accident occurred around 2 a.m. in a town about an hour and 20 minutes from Lincoln. According to one report, a truck rear-ended another tractor-trailer as one of the drivers began to slow down, causing the rear truck to jackknife.

The driver of the truck that rear-ended the other tractor-trailer was taken to the University of Nebraska Medical Center as well as a passenger that was thrown from the back of the truck. Fortunately, their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Although it is not entirely clear what caused this most recent crash, truck accidents are frequently caused by driver fatigue, speeding, aggressive driving or improper loading of a trailer. Sadly, many of these kinds of accidents are preventable.

Because of a truck's size, people who are involved in a truck accident often suffer severe injuries. People may remain hospitalized for a period of time and be forced to endure surgery and rehabilitation. Their medical bills may become excessively high. If victims are unable to work because of their injuries, they could face major financial difficulties.

Many truck accidents occur as a result of negligence. People who have been injured by a reckless truck driver may be able to pursue legal action. In the end, victims and their family members could obtain much needed compensation to cover medical bills and to make up for lost wages.

Trucking companies and their insurance providers may do all that they can to minimize the amount of money that is paid to accident victims. To be sure victims get the money that they deserve, people in Nebraska and beyond would likely benefit from working with a personal injury attorney who has experience handling truck accident cases.
