Today I’m going to tell you a little bit about what kinds of activities people engage in while driving, that Nebraska law recognizes as “distracted driving”.
Distracted Driving is Against the Law – What is Distracted Driving?
You’ve just been in an accident with a driver who was driving erratically, or who pulled out in front of you like he didn’t even see you and you’re thinking that this driver may have been texting at the wheel, or something similar.
In Nebraska, distracted driving is negligent driving and includes any activity that causes someone to drive unsafely. Examples include:
- Texting
- Using a cell phone
- Eating and drinking
- Grooming
- Reading, including maps
- Using a navigation system
- Watching a video
NOT PAYING ATTENTION WHILE DRIVING IS AGAINST THE LAW
It can be tricky to find evidence in order to prove these things but it can be done.
