Car accidents that are caused by an intoxicated individual driving in a negligent manner can be serious enough, but if a pedestrian is involved it can make the injuries even more serious. The lack of protection of the pedestrian and the inhibited motor skills of the driver can create catastrophic situations that severely injure or even kill the pedestrian. Unfortunately, one fatal accident in Nebraska may have been caused by a drunk driver.

The collision occurred on June 22 and involved one motor vehicle and a pedestrian. Initial investigations showed police that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the street in a designated crosswalk at the appropriate time when he was struck by the vehicle. The driver then supposedly left the scene of the accident, but was apprehended later after another driver got the vehicle’s license plate number.

Emergency personnel arrived at the scene of the accident soon after it took place and transported the victim to the hospital. The injured individual was pronounced deceased approximately 40 minutes afterward. No other injuries were reported, but the driver of the vehicle was arrested by Nebraska police. Police think that alcohol was a factor in the accident.

A death in the family can be an emotionally trying time for the family, especially if the death is unexpected. However, monetary compensation could be pursued by the family for the tragic death of their loved one. Civil compensation could give the family a sense of justice for the horrific death, especially if the driver is not found guilty in a criminal court. It can also help them cover any necessary final expenses related to this fatal accident.
