Inclement weather can make driving difficult and dangerous, but bad road conditions are not always a viable excuse when an accident occurs. Stormy weather combined with negligent driving can create hazardous situations for all travelers on the road. If drivers are not careful, these situations can quickly turn into accidents with the potential to seriously injure or even kill those involved. Unfortunately, a two-car accident in Nebraska has led to the death of an elderly man.

The incident occurred on the morning of April 13 around 11:30 a.m. A 24-year-old Kansas woman was driving her truck northbound on Highway 44 when she struck the southbound vehicle of an 86-year-old man. Emergency personnel pronounced the man deceased at the scene of the accident.

The woman incurred non life-threatening injuries from the collision and was transported to a hospital in Kearney. The weather and wet roads may have been factors in the accident. The collision is still under investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol and local police.

The family of the deceased retains the option of seeking financial remedies for their loss by pursuing a civil claim in the Nebraska civil court system. The surviving family members may bring a wrongful death lawsuit against the other driver, as well as any separate owner of the pickup truck she was operating. However, they will have to prove their case to recover monetary damages sustained as a result of the fatal car accident. At such an emotionally devastating time, an attorney with experience in accidents can help to review the options that are available.
