The death of a loved one in a car accident can emotionally wreck a family, but if the person who kills the victim does not even stop after the car accident, the wounds that are left can be even worse. Fortunately, police forces across the United States work diligently to bring these type of people to justice. One woman in Nebraska was recently charged for fleeing an accident that caused the wrongful death of one individual.

The accident took place on the night of Jan. 19 and involved two vehicles. The woman was supposedly speeding when she ran a stop sign and hit another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was killed during the accident. Three of the woman’s passengers suffered minor injuries while she and one of her passengers attempted to flee the scene.

The driver was officially charged for her alleged crimes a couple of days after the accident took place. The current condition of the injured passengers is unknown at this time. The defendant made her first appearance in court on Jan. 22.

Regardless of whether the woman is found guilty for causing the wrongful death of the victim, the family of the Nebraska man may have the right to seek monetary compensation. Compensation could be used by the family to pay for any of the victim’s final expenses. Though no amount of money will completely heal the emotional wounds of the family, it may provide them with a sense of justice and help them recuperate from their tragic loss.
