The lack of visibility that a driver has while driving in the dark can create very dangerous situations. If this is mixed with the effects of alcohol, it can lead to a car accident that can often injure or even kill those who are involved. The slow reaction times and overall numbness of those who are under the influence can be dangerous to the intoxicated person when simply walking, but when the person is in control of a vehicle those around the car are also put in danger.
Unfortunately, a man was injured recently in Nebraska after he was involved in a car accident. The accident occurred on the night of Nov. 8. According to Nebraska police, the driver of the car was 25 years old. He struck the homeless man while the 63-year-old was attempting to cross the street.
The elderly man was transported to a nearby hospital with critical injuries after the incident. The driver of the car was suspected to be under the influence at the time of the accident, though he refused to take a Breathalyzer test afterward. The current condition of the victim is unknown; however, previously he had been listed in critical condition.
Depending on the circumstances of the car accident the Nebraska man who was injured may be entitled to receive monetary compensation. This is often used by those who are injured to pay for medical bills from their stay at the hospital. This could allow the man to fully recover instead of worrying about the astronomical cost of his stay.
