Nebraska man dies after suffering on-the-job injury

Falls are one of the most common accidents that occur on work sites. In a number of cases, proper safety equipment can reduce the possibility of injury or death. Unfortunately, even when protective equipment is used, a worker can still be injured or killed by a fall, which often leads to the need for workers' compensation benefits. This may be the case for the family of one Nebraska man who died after an on-the-job injury.

A Nebraska man recently fell to his death while at work. The 59-year-old man was not working alone. Instead, he was actually working with several other men at the time of the accident. When he fell, he was climbing up the leg of an outdoor fertilizer elevator.

The base of elevator's leg was allegedly rusted. It ended up giving out, and the man fell. He landed on a nearby building's roof and was trapped in the safety cage of the ladder. He ended up being crushed between the roof and the leg. Upon conclusion of an investigation, the man's fall and subsequent death was determined to be an accident.

When a Nebraska worker suffers an on-the-job injury, he or she, or his or her family in the case of a fatal injury, may benefit from filing a workers' compensation claim. The benefits provided by workers' compensation can help a victim, or his or her family, adjust to the loss of income and help to pay for medical or funeral expenses. Although receiving these benefits cannot undo the damage done, the benefits can help the victim or his or her family with financial relief.
