Nebraska car accident could result in wrongful death suit

Car accidents occur each and every day throughout the United States; fortunately the majority of these accidents are not serious enough to injure those involved. However, if an accident is caused by negligence on the part of a driver, the severity of the collision often increases increased dramatically. Such accidents can seriously injure or even kill those involved in the collision. A recent crash near Elmwood, Nebraska has taken the life of two people, and may lead to a wrongful death suit against the driver whom police believe caused the crash.

The accident took place on the night of Sept. 21 at around 7:30 p.m. and involved two motor vehicles. The initial investigation suggests that the driver of the first vehicle struck the back of the second car. The driver of the first vehicle was a 25-year-old man while the driver of the vehicle that was rear-ended was a 23-year-old man.

Emergency personnel arrived at scene of the accident but pronounced the driver of the rear-ended vehicle and his 22-year-old passenger of the second vehicle dead at the scene. The driver of the first car was taken to the hospital for injuries of unknown severity. The car accident remains under investigation by Nebraska police as of the time of this report.

Once the investigation of the collision has been completed, the family of the deceased may choose to seek monetary compensation for the wrongful death of their loved ones. An award of damages could be used by the family to pay for any final expenses. While nothing can replace a lost loved one, many families pursue wrongful death suits in order to feel that some small measure of justice has been served in the matter.
