Worker killed from on-the-job injury in Nebraska

Unfortunately, some companies put their workers at risk of injury or death every day. Although some hazards are unpreventable on the job site, others could be prevented if the right steps were taken to insure the safety of the workers nearby. However, these steps are not always taken by those who are in charge of the work site, and some workers are put at risk for no reason at all. One worker died from an on-the-job injury that resulted from an accident in Nebraska.

The original accident took place in September of last year, but the asphalt facility where it occurred was recently cited for the safety violations that led to the accident. The victim, a 35-year-old man, was struck by a front-end loader at the work site. He was then pinned between the front-end loader and a semi-trailer.

The worker suffered from fatal injuries, which he succumbed to on Sept. 14, 2013. The company may be facing citations for not properly training their employees to identify potential hazards and take the necessary precautions as well as their failure to complete a workplace hazard assessment. The two citations may mean $14,000 in fines for the company.

The family of the deceased Nebraska victim may have the right to seek workers' compensation survivor benefits due to the death of the victim from his on-the-job injury. Compensation could be used to pay for any of the victim's final expenses as well as supplement the income that the family is now missing. Hopefully, this will allow the family to focus on recovering from their tragic loss instead of worrying about new bills.
