What caused driver to collide with garbage truck?

A recent accident in Nebraska claimed the life of a 46-year-old man. The accident happened around 10 a.m. Authorities say that the 46-year-old man was driving a minivan and that he hit the back of a garbage truck. Prior to hitting the garbage truck he reportedly crossed over the center line and hit a semitrailer.

The driver of the minivan died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the garbage truck was taken to the hospital. Fortunately, though, he was released shortly after. The driver of the semitrailer did not sustain injuries in the crash.

It is unclear what caused the driver of the minivan to cross over the center line and collide with the semitrailer and garbage truck. Sadly, distracted driving is the cause of many fatal accidents in Nebraska and beyond.

Distracted driving remains a big problem all across the country. In fact, as Lincoln readers may recall from last week's post, government officials have requested that auto manufacturers build cars to prevent distracted driving.

People may not think that taking their eyes off the road for a second or two is a big deal. However, fatal crashes happen in an instant. People who are behind the wheel of a vehicle should keep their focus on the road.

When tragic accidents do occur, victims and surviving family members may wish to hold any negligent parties responsible through legal action. Victims and family members who are successful in their efforts may feel that justice has been served.
